The day begins with the VyStar 5K Run, a scenic 5K run through the streets of downtown Jacksonville, followed by the annual CSX Gator Bowl Coaches Luncheon and Hall of Fame Induction presented by BB&T that welcomes this year’s teams and head coaches as well as legends of Gator Bowls past. Next the ever popular Florida Blue Hometown Gator Bowl Parade steps off in style with marching bands and colorful floats that will delight fans of all ages. Then, it’s on to a fan favorite, the Battle of the Bands, where the participating university bands, cheerleaders and mascots will take center stage and create an electric atmosphere of competition for fans of Gator Bowl teams. At the stroke of midnight, fans will experience a spectacular fireworks display along the St. Johns River ushering in 2012.
The Budweiser Tailgate Party kicks off New Year’s Day with non-stop action for everyone! You won’t want to miss the kick-off of the 67th Annual Gator Bowl Classic that matches a team from the Big Ten Conference (away team) against a team from the Southeastern Conference (home team).
